Do designer bags bring genuine hearts?

When you walk around malls like Greenbelt, you would realize that there are a lot of boutiques that sell luxury goods. You might see the ever-famous Louis Vuitton and one of my favorites, Kate Spade as you stroll along. I, myself, go to the mall always because it is near the office and what caught my attention recently is the expansion of the Hermès boutique. Not that I'm a huge fan but how is it actually selling... here... in the Philippines? I heard that it costs about P 100,000++ just for a handbag which is relatively higher than other signature bags and accessories. So, I always wondered how do they actually sell, knowing that a big part of our population is in poverty.

Hermès actually established a foundation wherein they intensively support artists globally, such as, painters, photographers, actors, and designers. The foundation highlights the organization's keen eye for aesthetics. For me, artists are rarely given a chance to be appreciated and acknowledged so the government or other organizations never really provide funds to enhance and promote their skills. It's a good thing that Hermès recognizes such talent that the nation should be proud of. To know more about their foundation, you may visit http://en.fondationdentreprisehermes.org/The-Foundation.

Upon reviewing, Hermès has a foundation that integrates their social objectives and business goals. Potential candidates for the company can further develop and expose their artistic talents so that the society will appreciate the relevance of aesthetics in our daily life. For instance, they support exhibitions of dancers and musicians to share the culture of between country to country.

In the Philippines, several companies employs CSR to help the community rise above its current situations such as poverty, poor quality education, pollution, etc. It's very common to see that companies are providing funds for scholarships, environmental acts, school rehabilitations, charities, medical missions, and other activities which will promote the welfare of the unfortunate. It's interesting and pleasing to know that a company like Hermès advocates national artists. Filipino companies should consider other aspects of our nation aside from the poor and the environment like sports (aside from basketball and popular sports), research, technology, science, and art. The enthusiasts who value these areas can also make a big difference in the society and country.
