The life equilibrium

Being in the corporate world for two years and a half, I can say that a lot of my qualities changed. Furthermore, it developed my way of thinking and dealing with various challenges. Even if I say that I’ve already learned a lot, I still wanted to continue learning. When I was new to the organization, my enthusiasm to know the industry more has made me take all the tasks and trainings assigned to me. I wouldn’t regret them because the effort I made back in the day made the way I currently am. However, I come to think that I wanted to treat myself by being with loved ones and family. In my previous work, I’m always envious of my sisters’ family getaway posts and how they are missing me. By then, I opted to join the project management team so that I can showcase my leadership potential and I heard that it is a more flexible job than what I have before. Aside from the trainings and the opportunity to work with senior management, being in that team would allow me to give time to myself, and my friends and family more.

Having a work-life balance, doesn’t only mean spending quality time with family and friends, but also fulfilling the other aspects for personal development such as, but not limited to, hobbies or interests, religion, life plans, community activities, and lifestyle. If you’re a person who wants to pursue all these aspects, it looks like 24 hours a day wouldn’t be enough, right? I wanted to do a lot of things like advance in work, learn to cook and speak French and Spanish, join fun runs, boxing, travel the world with family and friends, shopping, etc. With all these, how can I fit them in a single lifetime? I don’t consider myself as an exceptional person as I didn’t really graduate with medals. Probably, I’ll be more of a “almost” person, who my classmates and professors see as an above average student but never enough to be exemptional. I considered that the talented has higher advantage of achieving the balance if they took the opportunity. For me, it still boils down to the person’s decision to attain the equilibrium of all life elements.

Honestly, up to now, I’m not really sure if being in a project management team is what I really wanted. So far, I’m enjoying the challenges and lessons it gives. Also, it provides me with the work-life balance it promised. I know it will also give me the opportunity to attain my personal growth starting with finishing my MBA. Here's a funny picture from 9gag.com which sums up a struggle of the person who wanted to achieve everything. :)
